Dr. Ambati is a Professor in the Department of Urology at the University of California, San Francisco-Fresno. He earned his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery degrees in India at Andhra University and the Government General Hospital respectively.

Dr. Ambati's residencies took him around the world from L.L.R. Hospitals in India; to the Surgical Registrar of Barrington Hospital and County Hospital in Ireland; to the Surgical Registrar in Urology at The Children's Hospital and Saint Vincent's Hospital in Ireland; then onto a Fellowship in Urology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

He is a member of a number of prestigious organizations which also reflect his global education and experience as well as his expertise in urology.

Dr. Ambati is actively involved in the American Urology Association, the Irish Urological Society, and the Urological Association of India. He is a published author of several books, abstracts and papers, and is currently working with 14 hospitals throughout Central California.
